Manchester City all but secured UEFA Champions League qualification on the final day of the 2015-16 Premier League season with a 1-1 draw with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

Arsenal stole second spot in place of north London rivals Tottenham with a 4-0 win over Aston Villa, as Spurs were thrashed 5-1 at St. James’ Park by relegated Newcastle.

Manchester United—who had a chance of securing a top-four finish heading into the weekend’s action— saw their clash with AFC Bournemouth abandoned after a suspicious package was found in the northwest quadrant of Old Trafford, per the Telegraph’s Luke Brown.

Elsewhere across the division, Southampton lifted themselves into fifth spot with a 4-1 win over Crystal Palace, West Ham’s European hopes were dashed after losing 2-1 to Stoke City and Liverpool drew 1-1 away at West Brom.

Champions Leicester drew 1-1 with Chelsea on Claudio Ranieri’s return to west London, while at the other end of the table, strugglers Everton thrashed relegated Norwich City on their final fixture in the top flight, and Sunderland continued their strong late form with a 2-2 draw with Watford in Quique Flores Sanchez’s final game for the Hornets.

Manchester City edged cross-city rivals United into the final Champions League qualification place with an unconvincing 1-1 draw with south Wales opponents Swansea. With an 18-goal advantage over Louis van Gaal’s men, City have all but confirmed their place in Europe’s elite club competition.

Kelechi Iheanacho netted from close range after just five minutes, tucking in from close range following Kevin de Bruyne’s cutback. However, Andre Ayew netted with a deflected free-kick in first-half stoppage time to level the match.

Following Leicester’s crowning as title winners with two games still to play, Tottenham’s ambitions of a strong finish to the season were limited to second in the table.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were out of sorts for the second week running and were second best for much of the first period in the northeast. Georginio Wijnaldum put Newcastle ahead on the 20-minute mark with his 10th goal of the season before the Toon doubled their advantage before half-time through Aleksandar Mitrovic’s header.

The east London outfit could still seal a European berth should Manchester United win the FA Cup final over Crystal Palace at the end of May.

For champions Leicester, it was a welcome return to Stamford Bridge for former Blues manager Ranieri, as he arrived as a newly crowned league winner. Cesc Fabregas looked to take the glimmer off the Foxes’ title success with a 66th-minute penalty, but Danny Drinkwater replied with an equaliser with eight minutes remaining.
