Today’s Premier League (EPL) Transfer News and Rumours

Christian Pulisic to Man Utd, Newcastle or Arsenal – 4/5

Premier League Transfer News Today: Pulisic on the Move?

The Daily Mail are reporting that a number of Premier League clubs are looking to make a move for Chelsea midfielder, Christan Pulisic.

Pulisic is currently on international duty with the USA at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar where he has played a big part in his country picking up 2pts from their opening two fixtures. Pulisic has found first-team football hard to come by at Chelsea of late so it isn’t a surprise to see him being linked with a move away from the London club.

However, seeing his name linked with the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal will be very attractive to the player himself as he would have a chance of winning trophies and getting more first-team football should he make the move to one of these Premier League legends. Newcastle have cash to splash and are looking to improve their squad in order to qualify for the Champions League and to challenge for domestic trophies, so Pulisic may decide to go there and be part of that new project.

Andrey Santos to Newcastle – 3/5

Newcastle are being linked with a lot of players including young Brazilian Andrey Santos. The Northern Echo believe that the Magpies will make a move in January for the 18-year-old who currently plays for Vasco da Gama. The Premier League club have been scouting the young talent for a while now and feel confident they can get a deal done when the transfer window reopens.

Barcelona are also said to be interested in signing the Brazil U20 international midfielder, so Newcastle will have to act fast if they want to beat the Spanish giants to his signature. The fact that Guimaraes and Joelinton already play for Newcastle might aid them in their attempts to sign Santos but the lure of Barcelona has proven hard for Brazilians to ignore over the years.

Andreas Skov Olsen to Tottenham – 2/5

Premier League Transfer News Today: Pulisic on the Move?

Tottenham are being linked with a move for Denmark forward Andreas Skov Olsen according to the Express.

Whilst this 22-year-old forward is clearly talented, we’re not convinced that Spurs are in the market for another forward right now. Olsen has scored 8-goals in 24 caps for his country but he did endure a disappointing spell at Bologna where he only managed to score three goals in 70-games. However, at his current side Club Brugge, Olsen has scored 12 goals in 30 league games which helped him earn a spot in the 26-man squad that travelled to Qatar for the World Cup.

Providing he performs well at the World Cup, Olsen is likely to make a return to one of the big European leagues soon and at the height of 6’2″, he has the physicality to play in England but we’re just not sure it will be with Spurs.

Piero Hincapie to Chelsea – 4/5

Premier League Transfer News Today: Pulisic on the Move?

Ecuador and Bayern Munich defender, Piero Hincapie, is being linked heavily with a move to Chelsea according to the Mirror.

The 20-year-old is impressing at the World Cup with Ecuador and we’re not surprised to see him being liked with a move to Chelsea. Graham Potter knows the Ecuador market well from a couple of the players he brought into Brighton during his time in charge of the Seagulls. Hincapie is a very talented young defender and would be a great replacement for Thiago Silva when he decides to hang up his boots or move away from Chelsea over the next season or two.

Signing Hincapie could be tough as Bayern Munich will want top dollar for their young talents, especially if he continues to impress at the World Cup. However it goes, we fully expect Hincapie’s name to become very well known throughout football in the future and for the 20-year-old to develop into one of the leading centre-backs in the top European leagues.

Past Premier League Transfer News

Anthony Gordon to Tottenham – 3/5

Anthony Gordon

Tottenham showed their interest in Anthony Gordon in the summer but their advances were turned down by the Toffees. Since then, the player has requested a ridiculous new contract and his attitude has been questioned with reports suggesting he wants to leave Everton as soon as possible.

Football London are reporting that Spurs will renew their interest in Gordon when the transfer window reopens and that Everton and Lampard may be more inclined to sell their over-hyped young winger. Gordon has not proven himself to be a consistent performer in the Premier League and has even been dropped from the starting lineup in recent matches as he has been failing to produce goals or assists and his attitude to training and matches has been that of a spoiled brat.

Numbers such as £60m had been rumoured for Gordon in the summer but we believe Everton would sell the players for nearer to £40m now just to get him off the books and provide some much-needed funds for a couple of goalscorers. The Toffees have struggled for goals this season and really need to invest in a new striker and a goalscoring wide player as Gordon, Gray and McNiel simply haven’t cut the muster.

Youssef En-Nesyri to West Ham – 2/5

David Moyes is looking to add to his attacking options in January and could try to tempt Moroccan forward Youssef En-Nesyri away from Sevilla according to Calcio Mercato.

En-Nesyri has been a top player for Sevilla over the last few seasons, particularly during the 2020/21 campaign where he netted 24-goals in 52-matches. Last season didn’t go to pan for the 25-year-old, scoring just 5-goals in 29-games and this season he is yet to register in La Liga, so Sevilla might be looking to cut their losses in January.

However, West Ham might be forced to up their asking price for En-Nesyri if the player has a successful World Cup with Morocco and that could in turn bring other bidders into the mix, so Moyes will be hoping the forward has a quiet tournament.

Samuel Chukwueze to Aston Villa – 4/5

Premier League Transfer News Today: Pulisic on the Move?

Aston Villa are being linked heavily with a move for Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze according to footballinsider247.com.

The new Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery, knows Chukwueze all too well from his time in charge of the Spanish club and the Nigerian international has been linked with a move to the Premier League before, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see this deal go through in January.

No fee has been suggested for the 23-year-old but Villarreal will want to get a decent amount for their star talent and we’re estimating between £20m-£30m will be enough to get a deal done. Chukwueze has been at the La Liga club since 2017 and made it into their first-team during the 2018/19 campaign. The young star has pace and power to burn and also chips in with a few goals. Everton have previously been strongly linked with the Nigerian and came close to agreeing on a deal in the summer but with Emery in charge of Aston Villa, a move to the Midlands seems far more feasible.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Free Transfer – 5/5

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool apparently tried to see the injury-plagued Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer for around £10m but had no offers and with the players’ contract due to expire in 2023, it now looks like the former England international will leave on a free transfer.

Liverpool may accept loan bids for the former Arsenal midfielder whose time on Merseyside has been pretty hard to watch following an initial bright start. There is always a chance that another Premier League side will come in and offer a nominal fee for Oxlade-Chamberlain in January but given his fitness issues, it is unlikely that anyone will want to take that risk unless they are desperate.

Oxlade-Chamberlain signed for Arsenal from Southampton in 2011 and made over 100 appearances for the Gunners before signing for Liverpool in 2017. The England international made 42-appearances in his first season at Anfield but only played two times in the next season due to a bad injury. Oxlade-Chamberlain returned in the 2019/20 campaign, playing 43 games and scoring 8-goals but the following year he only played 17 matches. Last season, the injury-prone player managed 29 appearances in all competitions but has only played 4 games this season and his time at Liverpool is coming to an end.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is still only 29 and has lots of talent but unless he gets over these injury issues he won’t ever be the same player he was 5-years ago.

Historic Premier League transfer news

In the spirit of the transfer window being open once again, we figured we’d have some fun and look back at some of the more historic transfers to ever occur in the Premier League.

Thierry Henry to Arsenal – 1999

It’s almost hard to believe that this was more than 20 years ago, but in terms of historic transfers, this is one of our all-time favourites. Henry made the move from Juventus to Arsenal for a fee of just over £14 million – one of the bargains of the century looking back. Wenger turned Henry from a dangerous winger into one of the best strikers of all time!

Cristiano Ronaldo to Man Utd – 2003 (& 2021!)

Come on, we had to mention the birth of one of the greatest strikers there has ever been, whether in the EPL or anywhere else. Back in 2003, Ronaldo moved from Sporting Lisbon to join United, under Sir Alex Ferguson, of course. And as they say, the rest is history!

Paul Pogba to Man Utd – 2016

This one is a little more recent, but the transfer fee at the time set a brand new record when Pogba moved from Juventus to United for £89 million. Sure, there are many other transfers today that have broken this record, but this was incredible news at the time.

Didier Drogba to Chelsea – 2004

Finally – Droga is one of the icons of the Premier League, yet it wasn’t always this way. Chelsea signed the Ivory Coast man in 2004, and he ultimately became one of the best strikers the EPL has ever seen, not to mention the number of trophies he won during his time there.
